The Real Illuminati

Well, I may have some people reading this or not but I sort of had an epiphany, especially about a taboo topic called "The Illuminati." What is "The Illuminati?" Some historians and conspiracy theorists believe it was started by Anglo-Saxon FreeMasons from Europe dating from the 1600-1700s. Others believe this organization dates back to the time of Nimrod and Simmeramus. Some people believe "The Illuminati" is controlling almost if not 100% of the entertainment industry, politics, and the list goes on. People across the US and abroad are saying people like Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, President Obama, and Putin are pawns and members of this organization to bring in the New World Order. Do you research on the Internet and YouTube, you'll see it. But here's my theory guys, and some may agree or disagree (I'm still entitled to my opinion), I believe the real Illuminati aren't the things I've briefly mentioned. I believe the source(s) of the Illuminati are these corrupt religious leaders who have blinded the minds of the people across the world and have become gods in their lives. Religion since the beginning of time has been the ultimate force that has created things such as child sacrifice, idol worship, and everything that makes the average human soul puke. Taoism, Daoism, Buddhism, Hinduism, New Age, Islam, Atheism, Patheosim, and mostly prevalent in Christianity. The founding principle of the New World Order theory (from my personal research) is to bring everything and everybody under one belief system, one currency, one mind, one heart, and one identity. In the religious world, this is very true and is probably the most successful of every aspect of human life there is. Think about it. One writer says the people honing this principle will crept into our societies unawares with words and feasts of love. However, their main intention is to conform those they touch to a system taking away individuality and free will. Basically, it's called mind control. They are here on earth to make people spread their poison in the lives of others (something that Jesus says, making people twice the devil in hell as they are). All others who oppose this conformity are ostracized and defamed. Who is running "The Real Illuminati?" It's simple. Crooked/false imams, holy men, monks, nuns, fathers, mothers, priest, popes, pastors, apostles, free thinkers, and teachers. How can you spot them? It's simple, eloquence of speech, piety, and too good to be truth revelatory information that woos your mind (to deconstruct it and builds another to their liking). This is The Real Illuminati and if you're weak in the mind, uneducated, and gullible, you will be sucked in, sucked up, and sucked dry by this powerful force that is moving throughout the world, east, west, north, and south.

So much to say, my friends, but I can't say it all. Think about what I'm saying.

When Karma Strikes

I remember my grandma used to say me to me, "what goes around, comes around." Well her and Aunt Edna both said it. 20 something years later, I see that "corner phrase" is more relevant in life than I've realized. I recently had a discussion with a good friend of mine and we came to a conclusion about the result of people's intentional wrongdoing, what my grandma and aunt used to say (and probably still saying, bless their sweet hearts). I can say from doing a lot of people dirty in the past, whether it was lying to cops, turning on people who had my best interest, or judging people prematurely, the same things happened to me. As one old friend from back in the day used to say, "it's reciprocal." It sure is. Nowadays, there are more mean spirited, heartless, straight emotionally sadistic people in the world today. They are blatantly and unrelenting in their actions and have much publications, scriptures, and excuses to condone their own behavior towards others. They find ways to rob from others of their time, money, and abilities (physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc.). They attack folks they feel are a threat to their status, position, or prestige. Take for example King Saul. Due to his arrogance, pride, insecurities, and immaturity, he tried to kill a cool and honest mentee named David (wow, it's kind of ironic....). No matter what good David did to build Saul's honor and kingdom, Saul's jealousy led him to throw javelins at him. When people showed support to Daivd, Saul killed the. All and those who stood with them kept their mouths closed (in fear of facing the same fate). Although David faced "exiled", this thing called life through a force named karma caught up with Saul. A ghost by the name of Samuel said, "you'll be here with me in the grave." Lo and behold, all of Saul's sons died in a battle with the Phillistines. As he stood on the hill seeing his life has drawn to a close, he asks his helper to kill him but he refused. Therefore, Saul took the sword in fear of what karma was going to deal him (probably torture by his enemies for an extended periodKama  of time) and killed himself. His helper followed suit. Karma is a mother------. Same people you see on top one day bites the dust like the Queen rendition due to the force of karma. The point is my friends, watch how we treat others because the same measure you give it, it'll get returned to you at the same level but in most cases, much higher. Learn to do others right just as others just as you want others to treat you. Think about it. So to all you people knowingly doing wrong to others, you're time is coming and karma is going to light you up.

Til next time, Karma's student.....

I Believe In Evolution

Some of you who may see this post may be like, "David has gone mad." You're right and yes, I do believe in evolution. What is evolution?

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

a process of slow change and development; a process of change in a certain direction :  unfoldinga process of continuous change from a lower, simpler, or worse to a higher, more complex, or better state :  growth the process of working out or developing

Well said. I've noticed within myself that I am evolving. What I once was ten years ago, a year ago, a week ago, even a day ago, is something or someone I'm not anymore. It's more than me growing dreadlocks, sporting earrings in my ears, rejecting religion, or owning a BMW (physical appearances fade and don't last) but it's about how I think and who I really am. I believe that God in fact created evolution, not making man from monkeys, but pushing us homo-sapiens to grow, mature, advance, evolve (just like every other species that is and was on this planet). Evolution is like a written code in our individual DNA that many of us are ignoring for most of our lives. We are resistant to change. We hate when things and people don't go our way or roll out the red carpet for us. Evolution challenges us at every hand and makes us realize that change is indeed inevitable. One of my favorite songs is by Motorhead, "Line In The Sand." One of its lyrics states:

"I see the line in the sand/trying to find out who I am....evolution...."

We should in many points in our lives face times of evolutions when we must break away from certain relationship or actions we've been comfortable with for so long. We think this is the way God intends things and relationships to be; but that's not truth, that's a lie. Many of us are missing our destiny because we never change or continue to resist change. Many of us have never been in a different country, pursued an alternative career path that many say that "we can't make any money in." Many of us have spoken against those old things, ideologies, and people that are the "opposite of working." Many of us are unhappy in places/organization/cultures that forbid individuality and personal wealth; claiming this is what God intends for us. Bull----. Continue to think that way and live a life full of regret. I've had enough of that and I'm accepting my time of evolution. Though the growing pains of my personal evolution hurts sometimes and sucks because I feel like I'm losing more than I'm gaining (in the short term), the long term reward is living in the next stage of my destiny until the next phase of evolution occurs. Every marriage, every workplace, every form of music, every friendship, everything and everyone must face evolution. As Charles Darwin says, "Only the strong survive." Why? Because the strong are made that way for they have undergone the process of empowering their entire lives once crippled by weakness (fear). Why do you think certain species are obsolete? My point exactly. So to all my people out there, I encourage you to believe in evolution; undergo the processes presented to you, and evolve into who and what you're supposed to be.

Til next time, my friends.........

P.S. - Thanks Triple HHH, I believe in "Evolution."

A Transitional Period...

One of my favorite movies of all time is Pulp Fiction and with one of the best actors of all time, Samuel Jackson. One of my favorite scenes in the movie is the last scene during the stick up at the diner (you know, tell that b---- to be cool!). Samuel had the opportunity to blast the male robber away without question but he said something that was real, "I'm in a transitional period right now..." I can relate to that right now. The shorthand dictionary version of the word transition is goin from one place and/or time to another. If we look around, things are changing, just about everything. Technology, music, even politics are showing various signs of change. It's crazy but it's true. I believe there are many of us who are going through a transitional period in our lives. Should we leave this job that pays real good for another job that's like flying into the Bermuda Triangle (my old school cars dig my allegory)? Should I cut my hair and face some scrutiny from my friends and family? Should I move to a different country although I have no clue on how to speak Bulgarian? Should I dead some relationships I know that will stunt my personal/professional/spiritual growth? These and so many other questions we are asking ourselves right now as I write this blog. Transitions are probably the hardest times in our lives because we sense something more and better (or worse) in life but we can't see the next step in front of us. Some of us believe that prayer and self help books will show you all things. I beg to differ. I believe that sometimes, our eyes are open wide shut. We see but don't see, hear but don't hear (you get what I'm saying). People we used to rely on for the answers we need  will tell you, "I can't do nothing for you, man." So what do we do in times of transition? Some people say wait. I say keep. Walking forward, side to side, backwards if you feel like it. What I'm saying is no matter the direction you take, life continues to go forward with or without us. I believe that's the way God designed it to be for mankind. Times of transitions calls us back to the drawing board of introspection, retrospection, and enlightenment. We shouldn't get fearful but hopeful that maybe the changes we've been waiting for are coming. I don't know. I'm not Aristotle, Plato, or Paul. I'm just a man in a transitional period trying to find out who he is (and not what others have said or say I am), where I'm going, and asking for a Tall White Mocha and Banana Nut Bread at the counter. During our time of transition, all I can say is to "be cool", enjoy the stroll, and trust God along the way, my friends.

Til next time....

Devils In Angel's Clothes

Man, there's a lot of fake people out there. At the job, at the mosque, at Target, at church, at the family reunions, in basic training, you know the drill. People smile in your face and ask you about what's going on in your life just to gather information from you to talk about you to others. People give you "words of encouragement" to bait that $100 that's in your bank account or wallet (whatever you prefer). People will say they love you just to bait you in to use and abuse you. They look, smell, and sound like the "angels of light" but time will reveal their true nature. Devils in angel's clothes is what I refer to them. They're no good and will destroy you without hesitation and will move on to the next person, too. They are "holier than thou" and will seldom discuss their own flaws, weaknesses, and "moral failures" (to protect their "righteous/perfect" image). Personally, I'd rather hang with the devils (or demons if you prefer) because at least they're real and when you get to know them, they are the nicest and most genuine people in the world. They don't have to fake who they are, they are who they are, point blank. They are open about their struggles, moral failures, and flaws for sake of becoming better people. However, I've always had the most problems with those angels that got the talk and walk down to the tee. They have the light or "halo" shining above their heads and perform their "public acts" of piety. However, time reveals they're the real devils, like the politicians in Watergate and Pharisees (that's a freestyle, y'all). They've got white on but pull back the robes, their clothes are red as blood. It's crazy. Heck, I think I'm as devil (as some people refer me to, I kind of like it!) but I'm one of the kindest dudes a person can know (when someone ticks me off over some foolishness, well, that's another thing). But man, I know about being a devil with angel's clothes but thank God, life got my head on straight. Devils in angel's clothes hurt people and don't care but angels in devil's clothes are considerate of others. Which one do you want to be? I'll take the latter status for $200, Michael.

Well, that's all I have for today. Just remember, keep your eyes focused, your memory sharp (to ensure we have reference points from our experiences to deal with the real devils), and watch the company you keep. No type of people will hurt you more than those devils in angel's clothes. They are the most malicious, vile, and manipulative people this world has to offer. Hang with the angels in devils' clothes because they're real, honest, and flawed. My friends, I hope this helps.

Can Good People Become Evil?

You know something sparked me to write a blog today, right? Well, I ran across a book at a local Barnes & Noble, and ran into a book called, "The Lucifer Effect." As I was skimming through it, there was a question posed in one of the chapters, "can good people become evil?" Given my experiences within myself and other people, I quickly said yes. I thought to myself, anybody has the propensity to become an evil person, a monster, a devil. As some of you know, I love professional wrestling but the most exciting aspect I love is when people turn heel (become a bad guy). It's like they become unglued, unhinged, and will do whatever it takes to become the best. From sneak attacks, to public humiliation of their opponents, to acts of manipulation to draw in their prey to beat them. Wrestlers that fit the mode are Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Bobby Roode, and AJ Lee. It works like a charm. Some thinkers and writers believe nobody within themselves are good. I can agree with that too. But here's my take on it. We are human beings that possess various capabilities and sides to our human nature. One day, we can be the nicest guy helping everybody but another day, we rob our sisters and/or brothers. Wherever the wind blows, we go with it. The wind represents opportunities, chances, deals, platforms. Some of us, you know, with the "the entitlement: it belongs to me" attitude, will do whatever it takes to grasp the particular wind blowing that day. If that means screwing other people to get it, that's what we'll do. Good intentions and dreams in the beginning but down the line, something within us (or violently) changes. The cheers and acceptance from others get to our heads. "From the poor house to the penthouse" story embellishes our ego to the point our love of money and fame ruins them. Start off with words and deeds that's "for the people" but once we get a piece of the American dream", all that goes out the window. Helpers become dictators. Teachers become tyrants. Parents become abusers. Brothers and sisters become backstabbers. Spiritualists become cultists. Healers become murderers. Pastors become hirelings. Politicians become corrupt strategists. Writers become demonizers. Anybody, no matter how good we are, we all have the propensity to become evil. How do we stop the process? Well, it's going to take more than prayers, fastings, cliches, quotes, self help books, and "surrender self books" (ok that quote comes from a good friend of mine, Mr. Moore). I'll  tell you what it's going to take. Waking up,in the morning and looking at ourselves in that bathroom mirror. Taking a real hard look at ourselves and see evil lurking inside of us that can tear up the world in a bad and selfish way. Admit to it find a way to tame that beast before we lose all control. Just my opinion, my friends.

Till next time.......

What People Think/Say About You Is None Of Your Business

You read the title, probably my longest title for my blog page yet. I've been thinking about writing this for the past couple of days now (you know something happened for me to write this). A couple of months ago, I read Nile Rodgers' 2011 autobiography "Le Freak" (it's a great read, so check it out!) and he was talking about his time going through rehab. During his time in rehabilitation, he said that he read some material but one thing that sticks to him this very day is this:

"What people think (say) about me is none of my business..."

When I read that, I was floored. For years, he looked for validation and acceptance from everyone else from his playing style (one of the baddest, if not the baddest guitarist of our time), his physical appearance, his character, and the list goes on. From his childhood into his 40s, he felt trapped about what people thought or said about him. I think after he read that quote, that changed his life forever and if you look at his YouTube videos, dude really doesn't care about what others think or say about him now. At 60-something years old, he's living his life to the fullest. As my wife was walking out the door to work as I came home from work, she told me about an appointment she had earlier in the day. Her counselor told her some observations she has about her character and man, she was right on. Being adopted and throughout her life, she fosters relationships that later hurt like crazy. She was looking  to be accepted by others even if that meant putting up with people's crap. Of course, this brings on the dreaded "what you think or about me is more important than how I see myself." Acceptance. Validation from others. Nonsense. But now she sees a new perspective and is making strides to become what Tyler Perry has said in the past, "I Can Do By All By Myself" (meaning, I don't need your opinion to make me into who I am). That's how I think now. A couple of days ago, she got a "disturbing" phone call from a former friend (who read some of my latest blog and brought a knife to a nuclear war to fight for the honor of the dishonorable)  and said a couple of things about me that just wasn't true and truly a "defamation of character." "He's evil. He's the devil. He's wicked." "What right does he have to say what he's saying." Just a couple of months ago, someone else called me a "venom." A couple of weeks ago, someone else called me "crazy." Over two decades ago a teacher called me a "failure." Need I say more? But I can say this, I don't care what people say about me because I know who I am. I'm David G.W. Overton, a 32 year old, newly MBA awarded, 10 years plus married, 14 year government employee tenured, North Carolinian, introverted, will get in your face and tell you about yourself if you piss me off, prefers verbal over physical lashings,  expositor-esque, A-typical, Gemini, godfather of two  kids, house music looking dude. If that comment was said to me maybe 3 years ago, I'd be hurt and crying. Now I'm laughing because what that person thinks or says about me is none of my business. Why is that, Dave? One quote that I love is from Tupac, "N----s (ignorant people, no matter what race they are) gonna hate you for whatever you do." True, isn't it? But knowing this frees me from the opinions of men and women who have no clue about who I am. You see, we live in an age where people will take a liar's word about who you are instead of getting information from you. People will say things to you and about you to destroy your rep (as Ghostface Killah said, "Jealousy"). Some people cannot stand being rejected by others and sell their souls just to fit in or for people to like them. But The Overtons aren't those people. We're in a league of our own and loving it. I say all that to say this, please, don't care what people say about you. You keep you doing you and be you. You keep being the model employee your job is looking for in front of your haters. Never lower your standards to help change what people think or say about you (people these days don't care if you give them the world, they'll still treat you like a dog, I know from experience). Keep walking your journey, shutting out the voices of stupidity that's around you. Be you and no one else. Let those dotards know, "what you think or say about me is none of my business."

Til next time, David "The Evil" (according to "that person") Overton......

Defamation of Character

Anybody know about Desean Jackson, former wideout for the Philadelphia Eagles? Word on the street (and in the news), the organization believes he's "gang-affliated" and released him from the team a couple of days ago. I saw some pictures of him just chilling with Warren G and some other rappers from the West Coast just hanging. I didn't see any gang signs of any kind but I guess with the Aaron Hernandez (former player of the New England Patriots) case, who is in fact gang affiliated, is the new thing in the NFL. In my honest opinion, I think that he's in no way gang affiliated. Another word on the street is that the coach of the Eagles believes Jackson is not "all-in" with his ideology of how he wants the team to play. I guess he hasn't taken business management 101, nobody all the time is "all-in." I think this is racial profiling, signaling one person out for some reason (could there be something going on behind the scenes between these two parties, I wouldn't doubt it) and I don't think it's right. Now, when people talk about him, people may be questioning, is he another Hernandez-esque player down with the Bloods or Crips? Is he living the gangster life? It's hard to say but I believe he's not gang affiliated. I believe he's another dude being crucified but not as bad as Hernandez. This situation got me to thinking of this title, Defamation of Character:

Defamation—also called calumnyvilification, or traducement—is the communication of a false statement that harms the reputation of an individualbusinessproductgroup, governmentreligion, or nation.

Under common law, to constitute defamation, a claim must generally be false and have been made to someone other than the person defamed.[1] Some common law jurisdictions also distinguish between spoken defamation, called slander, and defamation in other media such as printed words or images, called libel.

Defamation is a serious thing and if someone wants to get gangster, take the party that's screwing up there public reputation and get a nice court settlement to make up for it. If Jackson is indeed not a gang member, I think he needs to get as much restitution from every party involved in this act of slander. I think when people slander or tell "half-truths" about another person (most of the time, telling people what they want them to know to destroy their reputation in another person's eyes), it's done maliciously. It's done to mess up somebody's business, family, friendships, and respect in society. If we look through the history books and see all the mess going on in the media, people are victims of slander all the time. Great poets and thinkers from the BC era were talked about and later condemned in public society. Look at people like Obama, Holder, and other folks, people try to mess up their position by telling half truths (which is a whole lie) about them. There's some people we know at our jobs going through defamation by others all the time. A lot of times, it's done out of jealousy and envy (just like Fat Joe would say, lol). It's done because that individual didn't want to get with the in crowd and decided to do things his or her way. It's crazy man and it's costly to the person who is on the receiving end. People everyday are called evil, devilish, rude, greedy, and the list goes on because people like to judge people before getting to know them or to know why they do or say certain things. It's crazy man. Hopefully, DeSean finds a new team and can start over again. It sucks that he'll have to rebuild his reputation but I think beating the Eagles as the opponent will suffice (sorry, this is making me want to jump ship and find another team other than the Eagles and America's worst team the Dallas Cowboys). All I know is, I feel what Desean is going through but he'll survive and those in America going through defamation right now, you'll survive, too. Like Jadakiss said, "We Gon' Make It!" - my friends!!!
