Till next time.....
Sometimes, it's good to sit down and write down different thoughts in your head. Well, I got a lot of them and I'd like to share them with you all. Some of you may like it and some of you may think I'm a stupid man. Given from what I've been taught, experienced, and experiencing, you'll see I don't tell lies.

Christian Mysticism
I'm a firm believer that I'm not a Christian (in a religious sense), I'm a rebel "flowing against the currents." What currents? The falsities fathered first by certain evil men who called themselves Catholics (popes, archbishops, etc.) in the Dark (Middle) Ages. Then it was repackaged, regrouped, and reborn through the "prophetic" move called Azuza Street (if you do your research you'll see it was a bunch of bulls---) back in the early 1900s. Within the past 30 or so years, mysticism is worse than the epidemic we saw in World War Z and I Am Legend put together. We've been infected with certain mystic language like "name it and claim it", "touch not thy anointed", "spiritual warfare",spiritual authority", "naming your angels", "kingdom dominion", and the other crap that's going around these days. It really hit me when I was watching the last season of "The Borgias" (now cancelled, sniff, sniff), when some people were "outing" Pope Alexander for what he was really about and really doing. He gathered all the archbishops in a cathedral and erroneously used a passage out of John 20 Jesus said to his disciples ("...whoever sins you remit, it's remitted, whoever sins you retain, they are retained...) and put a "curse" on his enemies (they in fact died in that same segment). My eyes opened and I saw what we know as Christianity is not. It's not giving your tithes and offerings to receive a blessing. Why? Didn't Jesus himself say the variable blessings of God are given to the "just and unjust?" Why should I give something that God doesn't want people to give (I.e. - foods, homes, etc.)? It's not using a bunch of scripture to cover yourself from being audited by the federal government because you feel God has given you a type of "authority" that supersedes "the laws of the land" (that god himself approves most of them). Or what about all this "apostolic and prophetic" moves of God? People speak eloquence and super spiritually sounding words uttered by the "Holy Ghost" to get people to a higher realm of "anointing" and "place" in God. And a common misappropriation of Hebrews 10:26, that many fail to read the whole chapter to see the total principle. People preach that if you don't join a church or ministry that the "devil" will devour you because you have a "spiritual covering" (a pastor) to cover your soul (last time I read, the bible says Jesus is the one who looks over our soul). Or what about the mumbo jumbo about speaking heavenly tongues? I've seen even Buddhists and Nation of Islam dudes speak with their own heavenly tongues. But the last time I read, when everybody came down from the upper room they speak the languages of other cultures, races, and nations. And we can't forget about prayer, which is one of the most misused acts given to man. Prayer doesn't change everything we want to see changed. Nor is it supposed to be used to fight against or bad situations to go away using a "spiritual scepter." There's a bunch of this mess going on that's got more people living broke, busted, and soon to be disappointed that people are still going from "house to house" leaving people messed up. I have one phrase the old schools from North Carolina love to say when things are off.... Let me clear my throat....Nigga please..... (That's right I said nigga = ignorant person). Christian mysticism is what many preachers like Bishop Mason (COGIC), Sweet Daddy Grace (who created Jim Jones = Jonestown massacre), Creflo $$, and the Preachers of LA use to make themselves the vicars of Christ (little Christs on the earth). Well, this is nonsense and even atheists and drug addicts on blue magic can see it. I too was caught up this mess until I saw the principles and the practically of god. I've learned that in these "last days" that many will be given to lies. Hmmm.... Hell, I've been lied to but that's where we're at but this young man has smartened. The next time you go to church or another stick you up for your money conference or convocation that will feed the bellies of the powers that be than the families in the city in need, just watch some of these examples in action. Go on Facebook and read some of these mystical sermons people post sounding all spiritual. I hope you laugh, my friends.

Employ The Mind
As some of you have read my posts over the past few months, I've been going through a very hard struggle mentally. After spending years and years in a system of heretical religiosity I now call "Alcatraz", I've been seeking help. Right now, I won't call myself a Christian yet I'm not an atheist or an agnostic. I think I'm walking a new path of enlightenment where there's more to life than right and wrong. As a good friend of mine has shared with me and resonates in me is the "grey area." Of course, I could do the whole "religious thing" like "pray and fast", join another church, and have a preacher man or woman call me up to the altar, pour oil on my head, speak in unknown languages, and lay hands on me until "demons come out" through coughing up (which is another false working of the Holy Spirit and to build a preacher's ego). Anyway, I've been reading a lot and researching just different topics about this thing called life. One thing I remember hearing from this substitute teacher in my 8th grade science class dropped a jewel to us young black boys soon to be young men, "read." Dictionaries, books, studies. 16 years later, I'm a testament that he is still right. I just finished reading Jay-z's Decoded and now reading Ja-Rule's Unruly. Wow, I can relate to them in various ways minus the drug dealing, rap industry, and wealth. But reading is helping me employ as well as strengthen my mental and emotional fragility. It's employing my mind. Slowly working on music and working to build back up my skills on the keys and bass is employing my mind. Talking with different types of people even strangers who could be a serial killer (but aren't) is helping me employing my mind. Hell, writing these blogs to blow off steam and say things that might piss a few people off is employing the mind. An old saying states, "an idle mind is the devil's workshop." Well, I'd like to rephrase that, "an idle mind is the workshop for the devil in you to f--- up your own life" (I.e. - various sports stars....). Employing the mind doesn't require something big or major, just simple things this life provides us. Employing the mind is something I'm working on everyday to get myself out of the abyss rather than jive myself in using repressive tactics handed down down by Azuza Street. I'm going to use a God given gift of the wisdom here on earth and His love to get my mind back in order. Well, that's my tangent, my friends.

Never Explain Yourself To No One
I'm tired of explaining myself, my beliefs, my opinions, and my ways to other people. I came to this realization a couple of days ago, just driving home from work in a congested Southbound I-35 traffic. I realized something about myself, about my life, that I've always tried to explain myself to other people. Whether it's been my hopes, career aspirations, literary works, the whole nine yards, n----s always got to come off at the mouth (or as pimps say, "out the pocket"). Most of the time, many of these things I've mentioned, I allowed others to derail these things. But no more. David G.W. Overton will not be explaining himself to people anymore. Why should I? Are men my god? Are they the sole controller of my destiny? Real talk. Why do we reduce ourselves to explaining about ourselves to a bunch of knuckleheads (especially to those who claim they know us well)? It's ridiculous or as Mike Tyson use to say, "ludicrous." At my job, I've learned within my 1 year and 10 month tenure there that you must have confidence when you work cases. You have to know that all your experience, the gut feeling (instincts), and all your training is the basis of why you handle different cases. One of mentors told me, "you've got to stop doubting yourself and work that case with confidence." She is right and that's how I roll in life now. Recently, I posted some comments on Facebook and people, always got something to say about it, in some twisted way, trying to correct me. Of course, I went on a tangent as to why I said what I said. However, that was the wrong approach and one I regret. So now, I don't need to explain myself to people. All I have to say is, read my blogs and then you figure it out. I swear that I'm not going to be explaining myself to nobody else. If people can't look at your life or body of work (failures/accomplishments) to make a determination of why (of decipher), then those n----s just won't get ("If you don't know me by now..."). It seems like the people I saw growing up in my childhood compared to the people now, the people now suck at just having the mental fortitude called "understanding." That's what it is, a lack of understanding. We live in a culture that wants to know everybody about the next man, busybodies (thanks to social media). However, I'm not going to abide by those rules. So the next time people ask me why I cut my hair, why I screwed up, how I got the BMW, why I hate church more than a raging atheist, or why I'm pissed at the Knicks right now, I'm not giving people not one d--- explanation. Just my opinion, I hope you do the same.

Hard Lessons
My friends, I've been through and in many ways, still in hell, the abyss, etc. I'll admit to you all as to why I haven't posted any blogs for weeks and weeks at a time since this year has started. Depression. Anger. Regret. Blind rage. Bitterness. Hard-heartedness. You name it, I've been through it (and on certain days, still going through it). I think I've learned a lot of hard lessons within these past 7 or more months.
- Never allow myself again to foster and enter relationships I know deep inside will destroy me
- Be honest with your emotions, don't suppress them
- Never push away those people (isolating yourself) who look out for your best interest (even when they hurt your feelings to tell you the truth)
- Seek professional help ASAP when you experience a traumatic event(s)
- People hurt you, God didn't
- Forgiveness is not as easy as people say it is
- Shoulda, woulda, coulda doesn't count
- Life requires discipline, without it, equals a life full of failure
- Hurt unchecked leads to hurting others
- Pure religion equals loving your neighbor
And the list goes on.....
There's some more points but I suggest you make your own. These have been some hard lessons that I'm still learning, that cuts to my very core. But these are hard lessons I have to learn. Life without them creates a spoiled brat. Hard lessons are needed in our lives to make us mature, let go of grudges against others, draw us closer to the true purpose of our individual lives, and know how to maneuver in the world. Hard lessons build our acumen. Hard lessons builds our discernment of right, wrong, and the grey areas that DO exist. Hard lessons suck because they are mandatory for us to experience. Hard lessons help change our perspectives we've been believing for a while is right. They are necessities that we don't want. I'm going through some hard lessons that has got me in a very dark place. But can I tell you something about these hard lessons? They build a hope within me to let me know, that "...One day, it'll all make sense" (peace to Common "Sense").
Well, that's all for me tonite. Til next time.....

Breaking The Code of Silence
It's funny how things you learn from your teachers in high school come back into your life again. That's what has happened to me over the course of few days. Reading the news, watching YouTube, reading books (currently I'm finishing up Jay-Z's Decoded), and doing a lot of thinking. It's true that I think a lot and it may be "the death of me" (meaning, modes of meditation consume me). However, I do believe that it helps me become a bit more open minded than the days past. Lately, I've been "ranting" about a few issues (now resolved, thank God) dealing with people and their ways. I think during the formidable years of my adulthood, which includes time in the Army, and time in a religion, I was "indoctrinated" to not say anything. If you have mental, professional, and/or other medical problems, we would hear things like, "don't use sick call to get out PT", or "whatever you say about the unit will get back to the unit." Of course, one of the biggest fallacies I've heard within the past 10 or 11 years are, "don't say anything bad about God's people", "don't touch God's anointed (meaning hireling pastors)", and another favorite, "saints aren't perfect." Where in the hell is David going with this? I think in certain instances and places in American society, we are "indoctrinated" to keep quiet about certain things that are going on. Within the past 50 years, we've seen cover-ups exposed from the true nature of the Vietnam War (i.e. - Operation Deepthroat), the ongoing Gulf War, Enron scandal, the financial meltdown of 2007-2008 (recession), the Department of Education (the No Child Left Behind Act), the Drug Trade (how the government allowed the flood of cocaine/crack/heroin into the lower class Black community), and the Christian Charismatic Movement (that has allowed "spiritual leaders" to rob, steal, lie, and plunder the lives of people who are genuine in their faith in God, i.e. -Peter Popoff, Benny Hinn, etc.). Each of these are very pivotal shifts in our society and people who got tired of the people (We The People, us, according to the Preamble written by our forefathers) abusing us. We've been told to keep quiet or else "they" will expose our weakness, proclivities, and past run-ins with foolishness to the public. Some have experienced people calling them and threatening to "shut up" or else (usually threats to harm their families, especially when someone "big" is about to face hard time). People are threatened and even ostracized (excommunicated) for asking questions or speaking on issues that people need to know. I think that hip-hop, blues, grass roots and rock-n-roll have been the modern day Platos, Aristotles, and Martin Luthers for the past and present generations of the latter 20th/early 21st centuries. When us regular folks who didn't have a voice or our voice wasn't heard in our local communities, these artist risked character and career assassinations to speak their mind. People like Bob Dylan, Lenny Kravitz, Travis Tritt, The Rolling Stones, and Nas have made cultural impact that have shed light on a few matters I've mentioned in their perspective musical field. So where am I going with this? I believe now more than ever, it's time to break the code of silence on what we know that is wrong. Of course, we must understand the right time and place to "leak information" but when it's time, "cry aloud and spare not..." If there are irregularities happening on the job that needs to be addressed, go to the "right" people and address them, no matter how they try to threaten your job security (for we have constitutional rights, never forget that). If you've been raped or sexually assaulted by someone in your family, a friend, or a neighbor, don't sit there corroding from the inside out due to anger, rage, and bitterness, report them and see it all the way to their impending jail sentence (it's a known fact when people aren't reported, these "predators" will do it again). If a teacher at your school is grading school assignments, even marking your absent on days you were present, and try to flunk you, don't just sit there and let them mess up your GPA. Let your counselors, hell, even the dean of the school know what's going on (and if they don't do anything, there's nothing wrong with going to the Internet media to expose them). If you a religious follower who's been messed over by a mosque, church, or place of worship gathering by people (most of the time it's leaders) because there are unethical practices with time, money, and talents going on (usually founded on manipulation and coercion), expose them through blogs, Vlogs, etc. (we have something those before us never had to expose these people, i.e. - technology). If someone in your hood is murdering people, shun the "Stop Snitching" doctrine and let the authorities know who's doing what (because if they continue being protected by this doctrine, they will kill again). Now, I warn you that you may receive some backlash from "blowing the whistle" but the important is that the truth gets out for the world to see. Yeah, you'll also feel a bit discouraged if people don't adhere to what you're telling and looked like a crazy person. People want to believe what they want to believe despite the irrefutable evidence at their doorstep. It's just a catch 22 world. As the old saying goes, "bad things will continue to happen when good men do nothing." That's a true statement. I can tell you all right now, I'm breaking my code of silence (as some of you can tell from my 6 plus month tear in my blog posts) and if people call me crazy, that's fine (because I know I am). When you hide the truth of what's going on in your surroundings, it will eat you alive because you'll see others' lives being negatively affected by these people we haven't outed. If Jesus did, why aren't we? Did he sit back, pray about it, and say nothing? Did Frederick Douglas just enjoy his freedom and live his own people still in chains without a voice against slavery? Think about it. Did Pussy Riot sit back and watch the Russian government do whatever without voice their opinions? Think about it. God has given us a mouth, hands, eyes, ears, and a brain to use not only for our personal advancement but to help each other. How do we help each other in the times we're living when devil in human form seem to be out of control? We break our code of silence.

Stand Up For Yourself Or Stay Knocked Down
You see the title and for those who've been reading my blogs recently, you know I'm about to go on a tangent. I truly would like to thank a mall cop/building manager who works/protects a local ATL mall named Darien Long. This dude is a stand up guy and takes no crap from nobody. For those who don't know who this guy is, he is famed for tasing a "hood mother" for attacking while he asked her to leave the premises. He tased her with the quickness and is known as the mall cop taser. Within the past 2 years, he's tased a few people and boy it's funny. Some of these people (all black of course) are belligerent, foul-mouthed, idiotic, inconsiderate, hateful, disrespectful, and cunning. They test this dude all the time and he's slick about it. However, when these people cross the line, that's when he evicts them out of the mall and if they don't leave, they'll be doing Diddy's Harlem Shake horizontally. Sometimes, the cops (who can't stand these people no less than Darien Long) helms these people up, write them up, book them, and now have a criminal records for trespassing and disorderly conduct. Although these various videos he posts are entertaining, funny, and disturbing, I see things about Darien's character that we need to implement in our own lives. Honest, wisdom, connections, street-smarts, common sense, high self-esteem, strength, and a pair of you know what...
Too many of us are in Darien Long's position in our everyday lives. We have people in our lives like family, friends, coworkers, etc. who annoy us and belittle us. They don't respect us, talk about us like dogs, and defame our name/character. Many of us (especially Christians and people who "love" everybody) are doormats for sick, vile, and sociopath people. We let them do what they want to do with us and we're expected to say nothing. We are expected to turn the other cheek and let things slide. Well, here's my response to that----HELL NO (or NAW if you like the urban slang...)!!!!!!!!!!
I for one will not tolerate anyone to disrespect me, my family, my intelligence, and what I believe in. I've had to "revert" to some "old ways" with a corporate twist of course (I work for the government and just received my MBA), and will test any n---a who tries to test me. I don't care if it's the President of the United States, one of those Preachers of LA, or Rick Perry. I'm like Redman, "I'm not having that!" Before I allow people to disrespect me, I'll give them a piece of my mind and make them want to fight (and if they do, I'll be like the WWE and hit 'em with a steel chair-lmbo). But do you see the principle I'm relaying to you? I'm telling us to stand up for yourself, for your family, for your real friends. Don't let these dotards respect your life and just think stuff is sweet. Let them n----s (ignorant people) know what time is and don't waver from it. The more you let people do what they want to do with you, that a sign that you don't love or respect your life as you should. I respect and love mine and will tongue or pistol whip a fool that test me.
Now I feel a lot better. At the end of this blog, I'll share a link of Darien Long's YouTube. Now I warn you, it's got a lot of offensive language but after reading and analyzing the k-nowledge I'm giving on this post, you'll see what I'm saying.
Remember this, Stand Up For Yourself Or Stay Knocked Down! Remember this, you can't walk lying on the floor.
Til next time, my friends, David "Has Gone Mad" Overton.....

The Erroneous Use of Psalms 105:15
Well, before I get started on my tangent, let me warn all those who love and follow church leaders to the death (as I once did), you're not going to like today's blog post. It's time that someone stepped up and says what needs to be said about the erroneous use of Psalms 105:15, which reads:
"....Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm."
For those of us who were in or are in the institutionalized church, which I call Alcatraz, Babylon, or bondage, this is a common saying by preachers/apostles/pastors, etc. When they feel people have "disrespected" them by doing the following:
"....Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm."
For those of us who were in or are in the institutionalized church, which I call Alcatraz, Babylon, or bondage, this is a common saying by preachers/apostles/pastors, etc. When they feel people have "disrespected" them by doing the following:
- Call them by their first name
- Questioned about finances and treatment of church members
- Feel a "demonic" assault by someone who believe in the God as they do but do things "differently"
- Rightly corrected whether by a peer or an "underling"
And of course, this list will go on forever....
...They will pick up that mic, holler and yell at the congregation for about 2 hours (which is most of the time filled with emotional bull----), and have altar calls to see if everyone will repent to them for what they didn't say or do against them....At times in my IC (institutionalized church) career, I've seen people curse other folks who did no wrong to them but to correct them on issues they want to cover up (in the black church, you know 10/10 it's money related - hello).
Pastors and even some religious Pharisees who claim to be Christians love to use this scripture when they feel people are coming against them and "their ministry." They use this scripture to promote and instill "the fear of God" into the minds of the people (mostly to rob them of their time, talents, and tokens - money). They use this scripture as a defensive mechanism to block all criticism, correction (especially when they're obviously screwing up yet their congregation enables their bad behavior), advice, and wisdom someone (no matter who they are or where they're from) so they don't change their ways. They use this scripture to boost their own ego, pride, and selfish ambitions in the name of God. These people are usually materialistic, vain, manipulative, liars, coercive, and have very, very low self-esteem. Therefore, they use this scripture to get people to give them praise instead of God. This only breeds a corrupt heart that "preaches the gospel" for the love of themselves. They can't be corrected, they can't be held accountable. They'll all say, "I"m the pastor, I'm the chief prophet of this house, I'm the apostle, I'm God's armor bearer, I'm God's prophet", you've heard it all. But I've learned something about what the word "anointing" or being "anointed" really means. It's not about some preacher pouring a gallon of oil on your head to confirm your calling in God's kingdom. It's about laying hands on folks, prophelying, and preaching all the time at churches (but never on the street). The anointing or being anointed can be simplified as this, you're one of God's chosen. So, this means, the drunk dude on Bourbon Street in New Orleans is anointed. The porn star on hip hop videos is anointed. The crooked politician stealing votes to become Florida's governor is anointed. The 4 year old musical prodigy who can play anything from jazz and to Indian music is anointed. The AIDS victim who does advocacy for the condition she has is anointed. All being anointed or having an anointing is about using the empowerment you were born with from the day you were born. It's being the person who you're supposed to be (whether good or bad, it's up to us). So every time these preachers and prophets talk about secular artists and government leaders, you're basically touching God's anointed. Now here me out on this, Psalms 105:15 is not inclusive for church leaders, it's for everybody!"
People, read some verses before your favorite defensive punchline, which reads:
"He hath remembered his covenant for ever,
the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
Which covenant he made with Abraham,
and his oath unto Isaac;
And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law,
and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:
Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan,
the lot of your inheritance:
When they were but a few men in number;
yea, very few, and strangers in it.
When they went from one nation to another,
from one kingdom to another people;
He suffered no man to do them wrong:
yea, he reproved kings for their sakes" Psalms 105:8-14
I sort of highlighted the "theys" and "thems" because God in Psalms 105:15 was talking about Israel (the lost and found of Israel, everybody on the dog on planet). That's why he later says the greatest commandment is to love, to love your neighbor as yourself (but if you don't love yourself, you'll treat others like horse poo - hello!). Many people in our great people who are the "anointed" were corrected:
- Nathan corrected David
- Paul confronted Peter
- Malcom X and MLK corrected the US Gov't as well as the entire USA
- The LA Clippers showed their displeasure with their soon to be ousted owner Donald Sterling
Some of you religion folks probably like, David, you're twisting. No I'm not dummy, you just don't understand the underlying yet simple principles of the Bible. Maybe if you pick it up, read it, and study history, you'll see what I'm talking about, yuppie. Personally, I'll never use this because it's just plain stupid. Be a man or a woman and let people, no matter if it's the CEO of a company you work for, to the atheist who you're always judging get at you and help correct your "clear and unmistakable errors" (that's a VA term by the way).
To all you religious folks who use Psalms 105:15 against people who have the right to get at you when you're showing your behind, know this, the same pit you build for your "enemies", you're going to fall right in it. And I'm going to make jokes about it in blog for future tangents to come.
Til next time my friends, "You know what it is...."
